It's always good to be safe for instance if you live alone and want to protect yourself from any unwanted dangers , keep a tall stick or broom right next to your door where you will easily grab it for self defense .
For example > A intruder pushes the door open and you have no way of defending yourself then you can grab the stick or thing with the other hand to bat the person away . ..
